October's Nibblefest Theme: "CREATURES OF THE NIGHT"

"As a child, I felt that Hallowe'en was a time when
creatures of the night suddenly came to life.
We would turn off all the lights in the house and let flickering candlelight conjure up scary shadows and create the effect of imaginary figures lurking in dark corners...."
~Pippa Middleton

Nibblefest Artist Interview: Brande Arno

Nibblefest Artist Interview: Brande Arno

Art by Brande Arno

How long have you been creating art (and/or) selling it online?

I can answer the first part of this question like most other artists I know or have read about...  since childhood.  In my case, my parents were very supportive and kept me well stocked in drawing/coloring art supplies.   For my 15th birthday, they purchased an easel and  oil painting supplies.  We  set up a small studio in my bedroom by moving furniture  so the easel could be placed by the windows.  This was the best all time, birthday gift not to mention total validation that I was an artist.    I was in the artist high for the rest of that day.   But sometime the next day,  I closed the door and began to paint.  Thus started my life- long commitment and love-hate relationship with the easel. How long have I been selling online?  The answer is since 2012 with ebay.   By 2013, I had set up a blog  to record my daily paintings.  It wasn't too long afterwards that I  joined dailypaintworks.com  founded by Carol & David Marine.   Currently, I'm building a website www.brandearnoart.com and plan to focus future marketing efforts around it.

How did you first hear about Nibblefest and when did you first start Nibblefesting?
A fellow daily painter had posted a painting she was entering in the Nibblefest Art Contest and I followed the link.  That was about two years ago.

What do you enjoy about Nibblefest?

I look forward to Nibblefest each month and there is a Nibblefest following among ebay art buyers.     I always create a fresh painting to enter but before I get started,  I give time to think of how I'll create something different and whenever possible add a large dose of cute.

Who are your Favorite artistic influences?

Carol Marine - for her ability to create outstanding paintings with lots of juicy color and brushwork.   Colley Whisson for his ability to  capture the dappled sunshine of the Aussie landscape.   David Lloyd, because he can paint any subject in any medium!  Angela Moulton for her sweet birds painted with deliberate and lively brushwork.   There are so many more.

Tell us something interesting about you that many people online don't already know.

I love keeping a home...or being a homemaker.  I get dressed for the day like I would be going to an office and add either apron or smock.

What is your favorite Nibblefest ever sold?

Fritz the owl under a sheet.  I think this was October, 2014

What do you do to drive traffic to your Nibblefest auction(s)?

If all goes well, I post the image on my blog a day or two before the opening.  I include the link to the auction and information about Nibblefest.  I also try to post to facebook.

Where can people find your work?
